Derek was complaining about how we never go overseas and he have the time to do so as he is leaving for a new job soon, which gives him some free time that he must utilise . ( Note the part about him leaving his job.) Finally, one week before he left his job, we (I) booked ourselves a 4 days 3 nights trip to Phuket! I've to admit, rushing around looking for places to go is strangely fun yet taxing.
If you are trying to get an air ticket to some where from any budget airlines, there are a couple of things you need to take note.
1) Book earlier. There ARE price difference between booking today and booking tomorrow. That's how we ended up paying extra 30 bucks.
2) There are and always will be extra charges.
3)Don't choose your seats. That will save you like 10 bucks, no worries there will always be empty seats.
I think that's about it... oh wait you need internet.
Day 1
For about an hour and half travel time we reached Phuket!
SH is being SH, I am an elephant and Derek is a Thai dancer.
Beautiful garden.
I can't find any pictures of our hotel rooms so I will describe it with four words. Its like a chalet. Its not that bad, just not what we expected. For the price its pretty good consider that the beach is only 10 mins away and the plus side we get welcome drinks! ( we are cheapskates )
Hmm guava!
Oh chor chor basking in the sun with joy of having free stuff.
We got ourselves settled in our rooms and we took a walk down the road to their shopping mall. We ate at a restaurant that promise us to be treated like kings. The food sux.
Waste of money and no KING!
In the shopping mall they have a shooting range. A very convenient place for people who wants to fire a gun after a hard day of shopping.
Shoot it SH!
Only SH went to try, we pose with the guns instead.
Meet your fantasy, Lara Cheong
I am a lvl 45 gunslinger. Just mastered dual wielding.
On our way to a massage parlour, we saw a Thai husky walking down the street!
"Woofy kup!"
He/she is so cute and hugable! The eyes are in different colours. I really want to kidnap it. Anyway back on massage parlour, there are like a millon of them. Everywhere we go, the Thai girls will be saying " Massage? Come massage?". I am very uncomfortable with it, they are very aggressive. Ok fine they were just standing there by the road.
I told the gang my criteria of going to a massage parlour is don't need to choose your masseuse. Imagine standing before you a row of masseuse waiting to be chosen and your choice decides whether or not they meet life's end this month. Same goes to maids, why can't people just get a random maid? Its really heart aching. You point to maid 'A' and she smiles politely to you but you end up choosing maid 'B' right next to her, at that point maid 'A's world come crashing down.
Ok ok I side tracked. So we found one massage parlour that doesn't need us to choose our masseuse( fortunately ) and we got ourselves an hour of foot massage. It cost us 200 THB which roughly equals to 10 SGD, what a steal! In Singapore, 10 SGD you get 10 mins of shoulder massage and thats only for promotions.
"WOAH! Zhuan dao!"
I have sensative soles. I laughed for like 10 mins of the massage and Derek wasn't helping by scolding me for being noisy.
Make it stop!
On our way back to our hotel, we found Roti prata!
They call it pancake.
Yums!
Its one of the most sinfully delicious prata I've ever eaten! It has bananas, chocolate syrup and layered with condensed milk. There are many flavours to choose from, banana chocolate nutella, peanut butter with egg, lemon sugar and many many more.
Day 2
We got up at around 6 am for breakfast and followed a tour to Phi Phi island ( pronounce as pee pee island ). We travelled for 40 mins on a speed boat to reach Phi Phi island.
Matrix flippers for snorkeling.
I love the turquoise sea.
We had a funny tour guide named Patti. She is very friendly and informative. She claims that her boyfriend is Leonardo Dicaprio. I don't know why SH took a picture of her while making weird faces.
Err Patti? Someone is drowning.
In the afternoon, we snorkeled at one of the hot spot. The fishes there are very aggressive! Once they smell bread in your hand they will follow you every where. I threw breads at Derek and the fishes attacked him like mad.
Thats me.
After lunch, we went on to one of the smaller island for sun tan.
SUN TAN!
Derek and I took our life jackets and went for a swim. We almost died. The waves just kept pushing us away from the island and no matter how hard we swim we won't move a budge! In the end I grabbed hold on one of the rocks and slowly climb back to shore while Derek swims frantically back. Horrifying! We didn't even joke about it after that. Its THAT serious!
Day 3
We booked one of the must see show in Phuket. Its called Phuket Fantasea. Basically its like Disneyland except their mascot is an elephant. Before we went to the show we visited their adventure park. Its one of the most bizarre place I've ever seen! I feel like I am Alice. In the adventure park, we were first greeted by live frogs then snakes. After the snakes we saw angels (human dressing as an angel) then mice.
"Why are we here?"
After the mice is a statue of a T-rex.
"You are not suppose to be here!"
And the finale was two white tigers.
Rumour has it that these two white tigers are distant relatives of the white tigers in Singapore zoo.
I hope you are still following me. Before the show, we had a buffet dinner in their restaurant. At the entrance we were greeted by elephants.
"Food?"
For 40 THB, we can buy a bucket of random fruits to feed the elephants. I fed the elephants. Its very scary.
Please don't stomp me on internet or in real life.
After dinner, we entertain ourselves by questioning why are there people dancing traditional Thai dance to techno music?
Did I mention that this place is weird?
We are not suppose to take pictures of the Fantasea show, so here are some pictures of where the show is held.
The show was alright. Derek likes it. There were acrobats, magic tricks and dancing, lots of them. At one point I almost fell asleep because the dancers just can't stop dancing. Overall its a good place to visit in Phuket.
Ok, thats about it. 3 days in Phuket no drowning no food poisoning.
PS: I got tanned.
